How Matching Works
Related Faces uses facial recognition to automatically compare every face in your account, and across other accounts, to help you find possible matches.
The more photos you upload and the more people you identify, the more effective the system becomes.
Who Gets Compared?
Every unknown face is compared to every other unknown face, both within your account and across the system
Known people are not compared to other known people in your account, we assume you’ve already identified them correctly
However, your known people will still be compared to unknowns, both in your account and in other users’ accounts
🤝 If a match is made with another user’s photo, it will appear in your Pairings tab, and in theirs
Where You’ll See Results
Matches appear in the Pairings view inside each person’s profile.
There, you’ll see suggested matches sorted by:
Own Photos
Other Users
Library of Congress
You can also filter to view Uncertain or Declined pairings you’ve previously reviewed.
Confirming or Dismissing Matches
You can:
Confirm a match by clicking Match
Mark a match as Uncertain if you’re not sure yet
Click Decline to remove the suggestion
Every action you take helps improve future results, both for your account and the system overall.
Community Matching and Privacy
When you confirm a match that involves another user, they’ll be notified, and you’ll have the option to message them directly using the built-in chat.
Confirmed matches help link user collections together behind the scenes, giving both parties access to stronger facial data going forward.
