Assigning People to Faces
Once your photo is uploaded, the system will detect and isolate all visible faces. From there, you can assign a name or general descriptor to each face, creating or updating a person profile.
Where to Assign People
You can assign a person to a face from:
The Upload Flow
The Photo Viewer
The My People page
Creating or Using a Profile
When you click on a face:
A form will appear where you can assign a name or general descriptor
If you’ve previously created a profile with that name, a dropdown menu will suggest it, saving you time
You can edit the person’s details at any time
A teal bar at the top means you’re creating a new profile
A purple bar means you’re editing or assigning to an existing one
Using General Descriptors
If you don’t know the person’s name, click +General Descriptor and describe them in a way that helps you recognize them later:
“Unknown woman in blue dress”
“Maybe Grandma Smith?”
“Man in uniform 1”
You can’t assign both a name and a general descriptor, you’ll choose one or the other.
Why Assignment Matters
It helps the system begin identifying patterns and matches across your photos and those uploaded by other users.
Named people won’t be paired against each other inside your account, we assume you already know who they are.
However, their faces will still be compared to unnamed or described individuals and all people in other accounts.
